Project in Sinopec Maoming achieved a significant milestone this week. The heat tracing system had been installed on the 5+ KM sulfur pipeline, and the trial run started. As the pipeline required a very limited, around 135 ℃, operating temperature range. And only jacketed pipe heat tracing solution could meet the requirement. The system was expensive and difficult to maintain.
To help our customers to reduce the cost and complexity, we introduced the industry’s leading heat tracing solution with our highly thermal conductive FLEX series heat transfer materials. Together with Aerogel as the thermal insulator, our solution can provide similar performance as the jacketed pipe system does but dramatically reduces cost and complexity. After more than one year’s test run, our unique designed tracing system has been proven to be effective for sulfur pipe operation.
After more than one year’s test run, Pyramid Energy (PETT) proved its innovative FLEX series solution can support the customer’s rigorous heat tracing in sulfur transport.
Sinopec Maoming Petrochemical Company just selected Pyramid Energy’s FLEX series heat transfer solution to replace old jacket pipe heating system to support sulfur transportation in a DN100/NPS4′ pipeline under temperature between 135 to 160 degree C. Along with more than 1km long pipeline, customer suffering sulfur solidification and high maintenance cost. With PETT’s FLEX solution, the customer dramatically improves reliability and tremendously reduces maintenance cost.

Today, the FLEX series have been customized in our lab against the frozen issue that is very common in the plants of many petroleum production fields in northern Alberta. Even with Electric Heat Tracing (EHT) system, pumps, valves, drip legs, and transmitters often get frozen during winter in northern places.
Our FLEX series HTC has two models available in the market. One is FL1250 supporting up to 700 degrees C, and the other is FL300NH, which is non-hardening HTC supporting up to 180 degrees C. It can easily be reshaped to support thermal exchange with any irregular surfaces found on a pump, valve, drip legs, and transmitters. Together with Nano-technology based insulation cover, our freezing protection solution can prevent any electric traced equipment from freezing during severe winter time.
